July’s First Friday Club Editors’ Briefings looked at risk, regulation and resilience in the new Industrial era. 15 trade media editors gathered at The Wellington, London, to hear from 3 guest speakers who discussed building safety standards, automation risk and the UK’s evolving Industrial Strategy.  

Oliver Selby, Head of FANUC Sales, discussed risk management in automation deployment as well as mitigating the risk through supply chain development.  

Nikesh Mistry, Sector Head of Industrial Automation and Test & Measurement at GAMBICA explored how government policy is aligning with sector innovation to boost productivity and competitiveness, with insight drawn directly from member companies.  

Paul Bailey, CEO of Engineering Council, highlighted how the Engineering Council registration enables individuals to demonstrate a personal and professional commitment to society, to the environment and to their profession, and gave an update on the recent launch of a new Higher-Risk Buildings (HRBs) Standard.  

Finally, the Cadence Team discussed the upcoming ATUKI (Attitudes to UK industry) report which aims to bridge the gap between the general public’s thoughts and industry’s understanding on sustainability.
